Neich (replacement slats)

Neich (replacement slats)

VONDA wooden covers are made from Austrian Douglas fir. That might sound unusual, but it's clever.

We purchase our Douglas fir round timber from a sawmill in Mühlviertel. The Douglas fir processed there comes from Upper and Lower Austria.

Tropical and Siberian woods are out of the question for us for ecological reasons. The production of thermowoods and impregnated woods is very energy-intensive.

Douglas fir, like Siberian pine or larch, is assigned to durability class III (according to DIN EN 350 standard), but in comparison, it is less resinous and flaky.

For us, it makes sense to use local, untreated wood. Since the lifespan of wood outdoors is unfortunately limited, VONDA wooden covers are also available for repurchase. The slats are easy to replace and can be used, for example, in a tiled stove.

Of course, the entire VONDA range is PEFC-certified.

Another fact about Douglas fir: They are – keyword climate change – more resistant to drought than, for example, spruce.
